The Christ Child...

Children are a gift from God! As I listened to the sweet voices of the children singing Silent Night at Mass this morning, I was overwhelmed. This is the season for children, for child-like faith and trust in God; for a sense of awe and wonder as we reflect on the gift God gave us in the birth of Jesus.

Oh, the love of a Father who would lend an ear to us from His throne upon the cherubim; who would rouse His power and come to save us (Ps 80:2,3); who would choose a virgin named Mary to conceive in her womb and bear the Son of the Most High (Lk 1:31,32).

In this final week of Advent, may we marvel at the blessed gift of the Christ Child. May we join with Mary in proclaiming the greatness of the Lord and sharing His love with others.
