Loose threads…

The rugs seemed like a good idea at the time... they were a good, neutral color with a shaggy, comfortable look, and the price was right. They felt really good under my bare feet!
As I vacuum all the loose threads on the floor, I'm tempted to regret buying those rugs! Threads unraveling daily and I wonder if this is a metaphor for my life...
When it appears that things are unraveling around me; when I'm pressed upon and feel like I'm not keeping up with the constant demands of life, I'm reminded that my Good Shepherd will leave the ninety nine to rescue me. I'm reminded that God's love will never fail; that He is the solid Rock upon which my feet are firm and secure.
And perhaps there are still many threads that need to be removed, some things I need to be detached from, things that distract and keep me from drawing closer to God...
So, as I gather up those loose threads, I thank God for knowing what's best for me; for ridding me of all the unnecessary attachments that have no eternal value, or entangle and draw me away from His plan for my life.
For we are his handiwork, created in Christ Jesus for the good works that God has prepared in advance, that we should live in them. Eph 2:10
